First Anniversary

Added on by Madeline Manson.

20th November 2013...first day of clients at Studio Ninety. A year has passed and what a year it's been. Everything has been accomplished so organically. The studio has evolved into something more comfortable and inviting and beautiful and creative.

My clients have believed and encourage me to keep believing in what's next. They are the canvas in my studio and they bring their own colours and ideas and we work together to create.

The people who work around me are my friends and my family. They are my inspiration and my relaxation.

I couldn't feel more grateful for supportive family and friends who's faith in this journey and me have been deeper than can be known.

I feel butterflies when I think about it.

In August Instagram featured a guy on their feed called Jun. He's a hairdresser from Japan who is travelling the world and wants to do 1000 haircuts whist travelling. I thought his pictures on him cutting the hair of locals and tourists on the streets of wherever he was at the time seemed pretty cool so I decided to 'follow' him on his journey. Then, a few weeks ago he announced he was going to come to London so I was looking forward to going to see him

One night I came home and was looking through instagram and saw that he had posted from London and said that he didn't have anywhere to sleep that night so would be sleeping on the street (and then laughed). I realised I couldn't really let that happen to him so we connected and he was able to stay at the studio and take clients there during his stay in London. Incidentally he didn't get my initial message until the following morning after a night of sleeping in Hyde Park! - It's all part of the adventure!

Anyway, we had fun together. It was great having him in the studio and helping him on his travels. We had an awesome Halloween party at the studios while he was here too. I was a pathetic attempt at a unicorn, he was a black daisy.

Autumn Light

Autumn in the studio is awesome. The light streams through the windows at all times of the year but in autumn the light casts extra long shadows and make the room so dreamy!

Mid week

London Fashion Week has wound down and all the great and the good of the fashion world have crammed themselves on any mode of transport they can to take themselves off to Milan for Milan Fashion Week.

Did hair for Jasper Conran S/S15 collection last Saturday assisting Samantha Hillerby. The hair was 'natural'. When you see an image of a girl with 'natural' hair you would be surprised to know that this style quite often takes the most amount of work! Anyway, the girls looked lovely and the collection was lush!

I've wanted to start a blog for a while. There's no time like the present. Some really fun and interesting things happen at and around the studio. Its time to start documenting for your pleasure.

The talented fashion designer Michael Van Der Ham shares a floor with us. We create hair and a couple of studios down he is creating some beautiful woman's wear!

We sat next to his mum which made us feel pretty special we have to say!

His spring/summer 2015 collection is fresh and feminine. I'm lusting after his hemlines, layers and sunglasses!
